Shock absorber service procedure in 13 steps

CONTENTS

A well-maintained bicycle shock absorber is the basis for a comfortable and safe ride, regardless of whether you are exploring city paths or conquering mountain trails. In our service, we offer professional shock absorber service, taking care of every, even the smallest, detail. The shock absorber service procedure we used was developed to ensure the highest quality of service, in accordance with the guidelines of equipment manufacturers. In the article below, we present the individual stages of our process, illustrating each of them, so you can see how we care for your equipment. Thanks to our experience and commitment, your shock absorber will operate smoothly and effectively, ready for your next expeditions.

SERVICE PROCEDURE STEPS

1. Online service registration

You can perform this absolutely crucial step at any time via our shock absorber service request form. To accept the request, we will need some absolutely basic information about the serviced part, the most important of which is the serial number, which you can easily find thanks to our guide: “Where to find the damper number?”. After completing the form, you only need to pay a reservation fee of PLN 100 (deducted from the final repair price). The last element of this step is receiving an e-mail confirming your place in the queue and the date of delivery of the shock absorber to the service center.

2. Acceptance of the shock absorber for service

  1. Checking the efficiency of the shock absorber in the presence of the customer (if it was delivered in person) or immediately after receipt (if it came by parcel).
  2. Determination of the maximum approximate service cost, including consumable parts.

3. Pre-wash

Washing the shock absorber as delivered by the customer to avoid dirt entering the interior during first disassembly.

To clean and degrease your equipment as thoroughly as possible, we use the Marwis Bio Wash 1200 washer with a huge working area of 1200mm x 780mm. There are 90 liters of self-cleaning liquid inside. Safe for those working with the washer, for shock absorber coatings and for the environment!

4. Disassembly and initial inspection

Second disassembly, draining the air and oil, then preliminary inspection.

6. Complete disassembly

  1. Disassembly of the shock absorber down to the last screw and gasket.
  2. Final washing and drying, preparation of parts for thorough inspection.

7. Thorough inspection

  1. Checking the condition of valves, shim plates and the surface of working elements.
  2. Searching for damage, service errors and assessing natural wear and tear.

8. Diagnosis and valuation update

Estimation of repair costs and contact with the customer if the pre-set cost estimate is exceeded. After a thorough inspection, if it turns out that some elements are more worn than they should be (unsuitable for further use), we contact the customer to update the quote

9. Assembly

  1. Installation of cleaned and degreased elements using specialized tools, in accordance with the manufacturer’s service procedures.
  2. Installation of complete service kits.

10. Leakage test

Machine filling with a Laba7 vacuum pump to check the tightness of the entire system. We try to connect each muffler to the pump, even if the manufacturer did not provide for it. This procedure gives us maximum certainty at this stage that the service procedure was successful.

12. Functional test

  1. Shock absorber efficiency test at the testing station.
  2. Possible corrections if any problems with operation are found.

13. Finalization of the service

    • Contact with the customer regarding the final service costs.
    • Transfer of service documentation, photos and other materials collected during the service process.
    • Warranty 3 months from the date of invoice.
